The paper does not propose a territorial or regional reading, but an analysis <strong>by sectors, business functions and company size<\/strong>, which is particularly useful for understanding the dynamics at work in local production systems as well. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Manufacturing as a key area of application for AI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Report shows that the <strong>manufacturing sector<\/strong> represents one of the main areas of Artificial Intelligence use in Italy: more than <strong>20 percent of the cases surveyed<\/strong> involve industrial enterprises, with applications concentrated mainly on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Optimization of production processes<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>predictive maintenance<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quality control by computer vision<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>digital twin and process simulations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are solutions that not only intervene in technological efficiency, but also directly affect <strong>work organization, professional roles and decision-making models<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These trajectories are particularly significant for territories like Umbria, where the production fabric is characterized by a strong presence of <strong>manufacturing SMEs embedded in specialized supply chains<\/strong>, often oriented toward quality, production flexibility and product customization.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adoption still limited, but structural gaps evident<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Report shows that despite a recovery in 2024, AI adoption in Italian companies remains low overall (about <strong>8.2 percent of companies with at least 10 employees<\/strong>), with a significant gap compared to the European average.
